Why isn’t my vehicle’s location updating?

 

There can be multiple reasons why your vehicle’s location is not updating. 

 

Are you within the Otodata Network coverage area?

GPSIRIS is wireless and communicates through the Otodata network. Therefore, you must be within the network coverage area for GPSIRIS to function. Consult the Otodata coverage map here.

 

Are you indoors or underground?

GPSIRIS signal may be hindered If your vehicle is indoors or in an underground parking facility.

 

Is your GPSIRIS device installed properly?

Please ensure your GPSIRIS unit is plugged in and operating normally.

 

Did you just install your GPSIRIS device?

It can take up to 2 hours for your first position to register. 

 

If 2 hours has passed: Make sure you’re away from any tall buildings, are not indoors, or underground. These factors may cause signal interference. 


Possible solution: Try going for a short drive (5 to 10 kilometers should do the trick.) Your location should register in no time!


Does GPSIRIS work in the U.S.A.?

 

GPSIRIS communicates position data using the Otodata Wireless Network. 

Currently Otodata offers wireless coverage in Quebec and Ontario. You may consult our network coverage map at here.


Can I install the GPSIRIS hardware myself?

 

You can install the unit yourself if you have experience with 12V hardware. However, we suggest you have the unit professionally installed at one of our certified retailers. 

 
Can I install the GPSIRIS on heavy machinery?

 

Yes, we designed our online dashboard to include heavy machinery information. 

 

 IMPORTANT 

You must determine whether your machinery operates at is a 12, 24 or 48 volts. 

 

If your heavy machinery operates at 24 or 48V

GPSIRIS was design to operate at 12 volts. Therefore, it is absolutely necessary to purchase a voltage regulator.

Why can’t I save changes the I made in the online dashboard?

 

If you’re unable to save changes you’ve made it is possible that your account has “read only” permissions. 

 

To update your permissions, speak to the Administrator responsible for your account.


I just installed my unit and I’m not getting a location.

 

It can take up to 2 hours for your first position to register.
